    Transaction Summary
    BNY Mellon announced today that it intends to acquire the assets of Menlo Park, CA-based Atherton Lane Advisers, LLC, one of the region’s premier independent investment managers which manages about $2.7 billion in assets under management on behalf of about 700 high net worth clients. BNY Mellon brings a host of strategic benefits to Atherton’s clients including a broader investment platform, enhanced marketing, brand in the Bay area (BNY Mellon sponsors the 49ers), infrastructure support, private banking services (asset-based lending), trust services and much improved technology with which to enhance the client experience. Upon completion of the transaction, Atherton will become part of BNY Mellon Wealth Management. Atherton principal Perry Olson will assume a senior leadership role, and colleagues and co-founders Janet Littlefield and Gary Patterson will also join, all under the leadership of David Emmes, BNY Mellon Wealth Management’s president of U.S. Markets-West. BNY Mellon expects the transaction to close by the beginning of the second quarter of 2016.
