Ian Martin AM
Mr. Martin joined Berkshire Global Advisors in 2010. He has over 30 years experience in the investment management, superannuation, investment banking and financial services sectors, both in Australia and globally. He is a former CEO and Chief Investment Officer of the BT Financial Group and Head of Global Investment Management and member of the Management Committee of Bankers Trust. He was also the Inaugural Chairman of what is now the Australian Financial Services Council. He was also a Panel Member of the Superannuation System Review (The Cooper Review), a committee established by the Australian Federal Government to review and improve Australia’s superannuation system.
Early in his career Ian held various positions with the Australian Treasury, Canberra, and spent two years at Citibank as its Australian Chief Economist. He holds an Honours Degree in Economics from the University of Adelaide, an Advanced Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and has completed advanced short courses in investment management at London Business School and AIMR/Princeton University. Ian is also currently Chairman of Argo Investments Limited (ASX:ARG); Chairman of Argo Global Listed Infrastructure Limited (ASX:ALI); Chairman of UniSuper (the industry superannuation fund for people working in Australia’s tertiary education sector); and Chairman of Sydney’s Wayside Chapel Foundation. Ian was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2014 Australia Day Honours list in recognition of his services to the Wayside, business and the community.
Berkshire Global Advisors is exempt from the requirements to hold an Australian financial services licence under the Australian Corporations Act in respect of the financial services it provides. Berkshire Global Advisors is regulated by the SEC under US laws, which differ from Australian laws.
